Description/Data:

CD45 antigen is a protein which is a leucocyte common antigen, a type I transmembrane protein present on all differentiated hematopoietic cells except erythrocytes that assists in the activation of those cells (a form of co-stimulation). It is expressed in lymphomas, B-cell chronic lymphocytic leukemia, hairy cell leukemia, and acute nonlymphocytic leukemia.

Studies have shown that expression of CD 45 is elevated in microglia in AD brain compared with controls.
