Description/Data:
Picture

FosB is one of four Fos family proteins that associate withJun family proteins to form the AP-1 transcription factor complex.  AP-1 activity is important for gene transcription in a wide variety of cellular processes.

Cancer: Strong differences in the expression pattern of AP-1 family members are present in breast tumors, and that certain members of this family, such as FosB might be involved in the pathogenesis of these tumors.

IMAGE: Human HeLa cells were either untreated or treated with TPA for 2 hours and mouse NIH3T3 cells untreated or treated with serum for 1 hour. Total cell lysates were resolved by SDS-PAGE, transferred to Immobilon-P membrane, and immunoblotted with 0.5 ug/ml anti-FosB as described in Protocols for Immunoblotting. A one minute exposure to film is shown. Prominent FosB band is ~ 50Kda.
