The SOX (SRY-box containing gene) gene family encodes a group of transcription factors defined by the conserved high motility group (HMG) DNA-binding domain. They are involved in the regulation of embryonic development and in the determination of cell fate.
SOX-1 is a 39 kDa transcription factor that belongs to the SOXB1 subgroup. Within the developing CNS, SOX1 maintains neural cells in an undifferentiated state and has been used as a marker for neural stem cells. Human and mouse SOX1 share 97% amino acid sequence identity.
Note: This antibody has been selected for its ability to recognize human SOX1 in IHC, direct ELISAs and western blots. It shows less than 2% cross-reactivity with rhSOX2, -3, -5, -6, -7, -9, -10, -11, -15, -17 and -21.
