Immunogen: A synthetic peptide made to a C-terminal region of the human CDR2 protein. [Swiss-prot# Q01850].
Description/Data:

Using anti-Yo antibodies, three genes have been cloned (CDR 1-3). CDR2 Cerebellar degeneration related protein 2) suppresses the transcriptional activity and DNA binding of nuclear factor-kappa B by an unknown mechanism. The neuron specific expression of CDR2 is regulated by a post-transcriptional mechanism.
CDR2 is an onconeuronal antigen; i.e. an antigen that is expressed by systemic tumors and elicits an immune response that may develop into an autoimmune neuronal degeneration. Paraneoplastic cerebellar degeneration (PCD) is a disorder in which breast or ovarian tumors express CDR2, which normally is expressed in cerebellar Purkinje neuronsImage: CDR2 staining of Purkinje neurons in the Human cerebellum
