Chemokine receptors are seven-transmembrane domain G-protein coupled receptors that mediate the biological activities of chemokines. Most of these receptors exhibit promiscuous binding properties whereby several different chemokines signal through the same receptor. They are named according to the chemokine subfamily they bind. There are currently eleven CC-specific receptors designated CCR1 to CCR11.

This receptor has been shown to be important for B lineage maturation and antigen driven B cell differentiation, and it may regulate the migration and recruitment of dentritic and T cells during inflammatory and immunological responses.
CCR6 has been reported to be expressed in intestine, colon, liver, lymph node, spleen, lung, blood, umbilical cord, placenta, skin, and pancreas. It has also been reported to be expressed in lymphocytes, T cells, and B cells.
