Arginine vasopressin (AVP) is a neurohypophysial hormone found in most mammals, including humans. It is invlolved in regulating mood.
Antogonists of Vasopressin V1B Receptor (AVPR1B) has been found to protect against depression. It has also been theorized that it might play a role in anxiety disorders as well as in unipolar depression.
