FosB is one of four Fos family proteins that associate withJun family proteins to form the AP-1 transcription factor complex.  AP-1 activity is important for gene transcription in a wide variety of cellular processes.

Cancer: Strong differences in the expression pattern of AP-1 family members are present in breast tumors, and that certain members of this family, such as FosB might be involved in the pathogenesis of these tumors.

Human HeLa cells were either untreated or treated with TPA for 2 hours and mouse NIH3T3 cells untreated or treated with serum for 1 hour. Total cell lysates were resolved by SDS-PAGE, transferred to Immobilon-P membrane, and immunoblotted with 0.5 ug/ml anti-FosB as described in Protocols for Immunoblotting. A one minute exposure to film is shown. Prominent FosB band is ~ 50Kda.
