Transfection with common lipidic or polycationic reagents can be enhanced by magnetic assistance ("Magnet Assisted Lipofection"). In this case, the nucleic acid to be transfected has to be combined with MA Lipofection Enhancer in the presence of a common transfection reagent. The formulation of MA Lipofection Enhancer, which contains magnetic nanoparticles (MagTag™), has been optimized for use with Neuromics'/IBA's new lipofection reagent IBAfect. The MA Lipofection Enhancer can be used for adherent cells; for suspension cells see MATra-S Immobilizer.
Comprehensive Protocol for All MATra-Three different procedures according to different initial situations can be followed to apply MATra:
MATra Lipofection for adherent and suspension cells-Transfection with common lipid based (e.g. i-Fect ™, pn-Fect™ , IBAfect , Lipofectamine or Fugene) or polycationic reagents (e.g. ExGen500 or Superfect) can be enhanced by magnetic assistance. In this case, the nucleic acid is combined with MA Lipofection Enhancer in the presence of the common lipofection reagent. In addition, the MA Lipofection Enhancer can be used for viral transfection.
