Schwann Cell or PNS Neuronal Markers

These are Neurons and Glia (Schwann Cells)  that are part of the nervous system but are not in the brain or spinal cord. Schwann cells provide myelination to axons in the peripheral nervous system (PNS). They also have phagocytotic activity and clear cellular debris that allows for regrowth of PNS neurons.

Diseases of the PNS include neuropathies, ALS, MS and others.
