HBMECs were isolated from normal human brain tissue. Passage 2, cells are ship on dry ice in a vial or in proliferating culture with a confluency of >90 %*. ENDO-Growth medium containing 5% serum and growth supplements are recommended for culture. Cells have an average additional population doubling levels >15 when cultured.
Characterization of the cells
HBMECs are negative for HIV-1, HBV, HCV, and mycoplasma.
*cells are shipped at 90% confluence. However, confluence can be lost during shipping. Please allow for 1-4 days to reach 90% confluence again. As the cells are shipped live, extreme weather (including extreme cold or heat) can be a factor if we are able to ship or not.
