HRMECs were initiated by elutriation from dissociated normal human retinal tissue. Passage 3 cells are ship in proliferating culture with a confluency of >90 %*. ENDO-Growth medium is recommended for culture. Cells have an average additional population doubling levels >16 when cultured.

Characterization of the cells

  • Cytoplasmic VWF / Factor VIII: >95% positive by immunofluorescence
  • Cytoplasmic uptake of Di-I-Ac-LDL: >95% positive by immunofluorescence
  • Cytoplasmic PECAM1 >95% positive by immunofluorescence
HRMECs are negative for HIV-1, HBV, HCV, and mycoplasma.

*cells are shipped at 90% confluence. However, confluence can be lost during shipping. Please allow for 1-4 days to reach 90% confluence again.
