Polycaspase and Caspase in vitro apoptosis kits make it easy to measure cell death and apoptosis in cultured neurons and many other cell types. Just add the reagent to the media, let it incubate 1- 4 hours, wash the cells and read with a fluorescence plate reader, microscope, or flow cytometer.  Apoptotic cells fluoresce red or green.

Suspension cells were treated with an apoptosis-inducing agent or DMSO, a negative control, then incubated with ICT’s green caspase 1 inhibitor probe, FAM-YVAD-FMK. The top images reveal several experimental cells, all of which fluoresce green, therefore they have active caspase 1.
